Letters of Love.
I’ve been dating my US army soldier for a year and 7 months now - we live half the world away from each other, yet we make the distance seem too easy. Times got hard though, especially with the stress for me ending school and all I wanted was to be with him..
Yesterday, I received this in the post. He told me a month before that something was coming in the post for me but I’d have to wait until we were talking on the phone ‘til I could open it, so he could explain what it was. So I find this metal tin, filled with over 100 little notes, (& two packs of newports, my favourite hah) and he tells me to pick one out and read it - the first one I chose: “I’ll still love you even when you’re all old and wrinkly =)”
He said that I am to read one note every morning when I wake up, so I start every morning with a smile on my face until I’m actually with him again. He wants me to be nothing but happy, and for the days to go by faster - Each day I wake up looking forward to what the next note will say, and the day I run out of notes? will be the day that I am with my boyfriend again. Whenever I feel alone, or the pain of missing him becomes unbearable - he said just read one of these notes and it’ll all go away, and all positive thoughts will come into my mind about how soon it is until we’re together again. I can’t even explain how all of this made me feel, I just started crying my eyes out, trying to figure out how I got someone that treats me so well… Long distance relationships DO work - if you’re both committed and love each other, the distance shouldn’t even be an issue. He’s found a way to put the biggest smile on my face even though he isn’t physically here with me. I don’t know how I got this lucky..
